Summer Research
Brooklyn College students who are interested in building additional research skills should consider spending their summer doing research in a lab at a college or university that is not their home institution. Many colleges and universities have summer Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) programs. These research opportunities usually run from six to 10 weeks, and generally students are paid a stipend for their time spent in the lab and for workshops and seminars they attend. In addition to building valuable skills, students can learn techniques and research methods that can supplement what they are already learning at their home institution. There are many types of research opportunities and many (but not all) of them are geared toward science.
